Welcome to the 2018 Murray Quad entry page there are 4 registration options where you can participate in the paddle, run or both events.

PEACHES AND CREAM PADDLE

The Murray Quad starts with a paddle on the Murray which is open to all types of water craft with 4 different methods available for Double blade (Kayaks), Single blade (Canoes), Stand (SUP’s), or backwards (Rowing Boats). It all begins with a le mans at Thompson Beach, Cobram then participants enjoy their journey down Australia’s longest river the Murray River that twists and turn through the Murray River Red Gum Forest passing some of Australia’s best inland beaches to arrive at Tocumwal Town Beach. Team boats and relay teams of 2 can also entry with a change over half way, which is also the start of the 12km half distance race.

 

RUNNING OF THE BLACK BULL FESTIVAL

The run component of the event will offer 4 different run options including a kids and parents fun run to encourage all family members to be involved that will commence once the competitive race has concluded. Elite athletes along with weekend warriors can participate in a half marathon, a quarter marathon and a trail run. Do the Q is a new and exciting event to the running calendar, both half and quarter marathoners lining up together to see who will be the first to complete the 10.549km distance. All races will start and finish at the Yarrawonga Rowing Club and utilize some of the best walking tracks along the Lake Mulwala foreshore participants will run along the newly upgraded Yarrawonga foreshore trail, through Chinaman’s Island nature reserve and experience the undulating fairways of the world-class Thomson Perett designed Black Bull Golf Course.

 

KING AND QUEEN OF THE MURRAY

Register as an individual and completely the full 25km paddle and the 21.1km half marathon. This is a true test of both upper and lower body strength over a well-established distance for each sport the title of the first King and Queen of the Murray will be awarded to the male and female with the fastest combine time for the 25km paddle down the Murray River and the half marathon.

 

COMMUNITY RELAY TEAM

Register as part of team and complete any of the 4 segments as both the paddle and the run can be split, the first and second half of the paddle and the quarter marathon and second section of the half marathon for the run, teams nominate who will be completing each of these sections. Two relay options are available for the those who would like to be involved as a team: a 2-person team or a 4-person team. The team with the quickest combined time for the 25km paddle down the Murray River and the half marathon will be crowned the winner.

How were the cut-off times determined?

The cut-off times are designed to allow enough time to reach the finish line in daylight hours. If you miss the cut-off time this will lead to paddlers having to paddle in the dark and we won’t allow that for safety reasons. So, for example, if you don’t head off for the bike section from Yarrawonga by 11.30am, you will not have enough time to avoid the subsequent cut-off times.

What happens if we miss the cut-off time(s)?

If you or your team mate misses any of the official cut-off times your race number will be noted so results are not affected and you will not be allowed to enter the course at that point. You will be allowed to continue the race however, by moving further along the course. You may re-start the race at the next possible start point, provided you are ready to depart at the advanced location prior to the applicable cut-off time.

What happens to our time if we skip a leg?

Should an individual or relay team member move to an advanced location along the course, we will record the race number so the time is not counted with the official results which will determine fastest prize winners!

Age Restrictions

PEACHES AND CREAM PADDLE

Full Distance: Minimum age to participate is 15 years old on day of event.
Half Distance: Minimum age to participate is 12 years old on day of event.
Team Boat: Minimum age to participate is 10 years old on day of event.

RUNNING OF THE BLACK BULL:

Half Marathon:Minimum age to participate is 15 years old on day of event.
Quarter Marathon: Minimum age to participate is 12 years old on day of event.
Trail Run: Minimum age to participate is 10 years old on day of event.
Kids/Parent Tun: No Minimum age to participate.
RELAY TEAM: Must adhere to paddle and run age restrictions.

Refund policy

If a competitor or a team voluntarily withdraws from the event (due to injury, illness…) and notifies race organisers MORE than 2 weeks prior to the event, a 50% refund will be provided, or registration cost can be held over to future events.

If the event is cancelled or rescheduled a full refund less statutory cost will be provided.

Entry Categories and prizes

The 2018 Murray Quad offers participates the opportunity to paddle and or run the Murray, with categories and prizes for each individual event, highlighted by the crowning of the first King and Queen of the Murray.

PEACHES AND CREAM PADDLE

Major Prizes: Fastest individual male and female to complete the 25km paddle

Categories with 4 different methods available for the paddle each will have its own classes and prizes with age groups of under 18, Open & 50+. (minimum of 3 entries required to form a class)

Double blade (Kayaks), K1, TK1, Ski, Rec, Doubles, K4

Single blade (Canoes), C1, TC1, OC1, Doubles, C4, OC6, Dragon Boat

Stand (SUP’s), Flatwater, Surf, Inflatables

Backwards (Rowing Boats). Single, Double, Quad Skull, Pair, 4’s & 8’s, Surf Boat

Relay Teams for each Category with a change over half way with male, female and mixed.

 

RUNNING OF THE BLACK BULL FESTIVAL

Major Prizes:           Fastest individual male and female to complete the Q

  • Both 21.1km and 10.55km participants will be eligible

The run offers 4 different run options 3 of which will have categories and prizes.

Running of the Black Bull Half Marathon – Male/Female, Under 18, Open & 50+

Do the Q at the MQ – Male/Female, Under 18, Open & 50+

Tourism Trail Run – Male/Female, Under 18, Open & 50+

The kids and parents fun run will not have awards for the winners the event is aimed to encourage all family members to run together, it will have a unique Dash 4 Cash lucky dip were prizes will be awarded.
